CARTI 100 AMR
AUTONOMOUS MATERIAL TRANSPORT ROBOTS
The Carti 100 from Bear Robotics is an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) built for repetitive material transport inside warehouses, factories and distribution centres. Carrying up to 100 kg across adjustable shelves, it moves parts, totes and orders between workstations, storage areas and despatch without fixed tracks, guide tape or changes to your building.
Supplied and supported in the UK by BOWE IQ, the Carti 100 can operate as a standalone robot or as a connected part of your wider operation, with tasks, inventory and material flow coordinated through BOWE IQ software.
WHY WAREHOUSES NEED AUTONOMOUS MATERIAL TRANSPORT
In most warehouses and production facilities, a significant share of the working day is spent moving materials rather than adding value to them. Operators walk totes between pick faces and packing benches, push trolleys of parts to assembly stations and carry replenishment stock across the floor. Each of those journeys is necessary, predictable and repetitive, and each one takes a trained person away from the task they were hired to do.
Labour availability makes this harder. Recruiting and retaining warehouse staff remains difficult, seasonal peaks are hard to cover with temporary labour, and the cost of every hour spent walking rather than picking continues to rise. At the same time, manual transport introduces variability: items arrive at a workstation late, in the wrong sequence, or not at all, and the line waits.
An autonomous mobile robot offers a way to take those predictable journeys out of the manual workload. Rather than committing to fixed conveyor or a full reconfiguration of the building, an AMR such as the Carti 100 can be introduced into an existing layout to handle defined transport tasks, freeing operators for picking, packing, assembly and quality work while keeping material flowing at a consistent pace.
HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?
KEY FEATURES OF THE CARTI 100
The Carti 100 is designed for straightforward deployment, safe operation around people and connection to the systems you already run:
- Payload capacity of up to 100 kg across adjustable shelves
- Autonomous navigation with no need for guide tape, magnetic strips or fixed tracks
- Real-time obstacle detection, collision avoidance and automatic rerouting
- Multi-robot operation with traffic coordination and deadlock resolution
- Autonomous charging, supporting continuous operation across shifts
- Call button summoning, so operators can request a robot from the workstation
- Integration with lifts, automatic doors, charging stations and operational dashboards
- Configurable with adjustable shelving, a powered conveyor top and signal lighting
- Connects to Warehouse Management and Warehouse Control Systems through BOWE IQ
This makes the Carti 100 suitable both for sites introducing automation for the first time and for established operations adding autonomous transport to existing conveyor, sortation or pick-to-light infrastructure.
HOW THE CARTI 100 WORKS
The Carti 100 runs a continuous operating cycle. Once a task is issued, from a call button, a dashboard, or automatically from your warehouse software, the robot completes the journey and returns itself to service without further intervention.
- Load. Items are placed onto the robot shelves at the pick face, goods-in bay or workstation, and the task is confirmed.
- Movement. The robot navigates to its destination, adapting its route in real time around people, pallets and other traffic.
- Pickup. The robot arrives at the workstation and waits for the operator to take the items, supporting accurate handover and reducing errors.
- Return. Once the handover is complete, the robot returns to its base or moves directly to its next task.
- Charging. The robot returns to its charging station automatically when required, keeping downtime to a minimum.
A deployment can start with a single robot on one defined task and expand as further transport flows are automated, without re-engineering the floor.
FLEET CONTROL AND BOWE IQ SOFTWARE
Fleet navigation and multi-robot control
A single robot is straightforward. The difficulty in most real deployments is what happens when several robots share the same aisles as pedestrians, pallet trucks and stationary obstructions.
The Carti 100 runs on the Bear Robotics multi-robot operating system, which coordinates a fleet centrally rather than leaving each robot to negotiate for itself. Routes are planned across the fleet, traffic is sequenced through shared aisles and doorways, and deadlocks, where two robots block one another in a confined space, are detected and resolved automatically.
This matters operationally because it avoids the stop, reroute and restart behaviour common in older AGV systems that follow fixed paths. Where a guided vehicle halts until its route clears, the Carti 100 continues to move, which keeps throughput more predictable as the number of robots on the floor grows.
Carti 100 and BOWE IQ software
The Carti 100 can be supplied as a standalone robot. In most operations, however, the value comes from connecting it to the systems that decide what needs to move, and when.
BOWE IQ develops Warehouse Management Systems, Warehouse Control Systems and IoT platforms, and can connect the Carti 100 to them directly. That means the robot is not simply carrying items between two points, it is executing tasks generated by your wider operation, and reporting back into it. Because the robot and the software come from the same supplier, integration is part of the project rather than a separate piece of work to be scoped afterwards.
- Pick and put-to-light fulfilment. Added to a BOWE IQ pick-to-light or put-to-light system, the Carti 100 moves completed totes away from the pick face and brings empties back, so pickers stay at the light wall rather than walking finished orders to despatch.
- Real-time inventory management. Movements carried out by the robot can update stock records as they happen, supporting live visibility of where inventory is across the floor rather than a position reconstructed at the end of a shift.
- Assembly and production feed. Components can be delivered directly to the workstation on a schedule driven by the production plan, keeping lines supplied without an operator leaving the station to fetch parts.
- Conveyor and sortation hand-off. Connected to conveyor and automated sorter control software, the Carti 100 can bridge areas that fixed conveyor does not reach, linking manual and automated zones into a single flow.
Where an operation runs existing WMS, ERP or automation platforms, our systems integration services connect the robot into that landscape rather than replacing it.
CONFIGURED AROUND YOUR PROCESS
Material transport looks different in every facility, so the Carti 100 is configurable rather than fixed. Shelf heights can be adjusted to suit the totes, cartons or components you actually move, and shelves can be added or removed to balance capacity against the size of the items being carried.
Where the handover needs to be automatic rather than manual, a powered conveyor top allows the robot to transfer items directly onto and off fixed conveyor, removing the need for an operator at either end. Advanced signal lighting communicates the status of the robot across the floor at a glance, and a call button allows an operator to summon a robot with a single press without returning to a terminal.
The Carti 100 also integrates with the building itself, working with lifts, automatic doors and smart charging stations so that a route can cross floors and fire doors rather than being confined to a single open area.
CARTI 100 VS MANUAL TROLLEYS AND FIXED CONVEYOR
Manual trolleys are flexible and cost very little to buy, but every journey consumes operator time and the pace of transport varies with how busy the floor is. Fixed conveyor is consistent and high-throughput, but it commits you to a layout: once installed, the route is the route, and changing it means changing the building.
An AMR sits between the two. The Carti 100 operates at a controlled speed with built-in obstacle detection, which supports safer movement in areas shared with pedestrians, and it repeats the same journey to the same standard regardless of shift, workload or time of day. Because it navigates dynamically, routes can be changed in software when a pick face moves or a new workstation is added, rather than through physical reinstallation.
The Carti 100 does not replace conveyor where volumes are very high and flows are genuinely fixed, and it does not remove the need for manual handling everywhere. It is best suited to predictable, repetitive transport between defined points, the journeys that currently consume operator time without adding value to the product.
